Componist, organist, koordirigent en muziekleraar Maurice van Elven (Amsterdam, 1950) ontving zijn opleiding aan het conservatorium van de Vereniging ‘Muzieklyceum’ te Amsterdam. Hij studeerde orgel o.l.v. Piet Kee en Jan Raas, compositie o.l.v. Robert Heppener en koordirektie o.l.v. Jan Pasveer. Maurice van Elven is thans werkzaam als componist, organist, koordirigent en muziekleraar. Als componist schreef hij voornamelijk orgelmuziek en koorwerken. Als cantor-organist is hij verbonden aan de Thomaskerk te Amsterdam. Hij dirigeert het vrouwenkoor ‘PROSA Vocaal Ensemble’. Als docent orgel, piano en solfège-theorie heeft hij een uitgebreide privé-lespraktijk. Hij is tevens verbonden aan de "Muziekschool Amsterdam”.
Composer, organist, choir conductor and music teacher. Maurice van Elven (Amsterdam, 1950) received his musical education at the conservatory of the 'Muzieklyceum' in Amsterdam. He studied organ with Piet Kee and Jan Raas, composition with Robert Heppener and choir direction with Jan Pasveer. He followed the advanced course in Gregorian chant with Dr. Alphons Kurris at the Maastrichts Conservatorium. Maurice van Elven is currently active as composer, organist, choir conductor and music teacher. As a composer he has written chiefly organ music and works for choir. He is cantor-organist at the Thomaskerk in Amsterdam. He conducts the women’s choir ‘PROSA Vocaal Ensemble’. As a teacher he has an extensive private practice for organ, piano and solfège-theory. He also teaches at the 'Muziekschool Amsterdam'.
